Privacy Policy

The short version
Zighop is for parents and caregivers. Children do not have accounts and cannot sign in.
About each child we store a first name, an age in years, and the goals you set for them — how full a week you are aiming for, and which broad interests to watch. Not a birthday, not a last name, not a photo, not a school, not their location.
Goals are optional, and they are only ever checked against your own stated target. They are never compared with other families, never used to profile a child, and never sent to a model.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we collect
Your account
Your email address and display name, from whichever sign-in method you choose (Google, Apple, or email and password). Authentication is handled by Google Firebase. If you sign in with a password, we never see it.
Your household
A household name and a ZIP code. The ZIP is used to find camps and classes near you — we do not collect or store a precise location for anyone.
About each child

The app refuses to store a date of birth, last name, photo, school, grade, contact details, or coordinates for a child. This is enforced in the code, not just in this policy — requests containing those fields are rejected.
Activities
The activities you enter: a title, a place, days and times, and who is driving. Taken together this describes where a named child is at a given hour, so we treat it as among the most sensitive data in the app.
Carpools
For people you add to a carpool, a name, the first name of the child they bring, and optionally an email or phone number for the adult. Only add someone else’s details if they are happy for you to.
How the app is used
We count page views to see which parts of the app people use. This is measured by Vercel, our host, and it is anonymous: no cookie is set, nothing is stored on your device, and no profile is built. We see that a page was viewed, not who viewed it, and it is never linked to your account or to any child. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use this for advertising.
Children’s privacy
Zighop is a tool for adults running a household. A child is never a user: there is no child login, no child-facing mode, and nothing in the product is directed at children. Information about a child is entered by their own parent or caregiver, not collected from the child.
We keep what we store about a child to the minimum the app needs to work. If you believe a child’s information has been added by someone without the right to do so, contact us and we will remove it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the services that run the app:
- Google Firebase — sign-in, database, and push notifications.
- Vercel — hosting, and the anonymous page-view counts described above.
- Google (Gemini) — for assistant features. Before anything is sent, names are replaced with placeholders such as “Kid A” and ages are reduced to a range. The AI provider never receives a child’s name, and names are restored on our own servers afterwards.
- Google Places — searching for camps and classes near your ZIP.
We may disclose information if legally required, or to protect someone’s safety.
Keeping it secure
Nothing in the app reads or writes the database directly from your device. Every request goes through our servers, which verify who you are and which household you belong to first. The database itself rejects all direct client access.
Deleting your data
You can delete your household or your entire account from Settings at any time. Deleting a household removes its children, activities, carpools, messages, polls, and pending invites. Deleting a child removes their activities with them. This is immediate and cannot be undone — we do not keep a copy.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your information, and to object to certain processing. Contact us and we will help.
